A general USAT meeting was held Saturday, February 22 at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. The following board members were elected: Penny Bergsten, Susan Bowles, Phil Hackbarth, Rob Ladewig, and Larry Seidman.

The Rocky Mountain Ranking Awards were presented to the ones present at the general meeting.

A new helmet law has been passed by USAT requiring all participants to wear a helmet anytime they ride their bikes such as to and from their cars. Failure to wear a helment anytime they are on their bike may result in a penalty even though they are not officially on the race course.

Colorado will have a new Rattlesnake Triathlon series at Auroa this summer. There is also a new triathlon in Crested Butte on August 17th with a mountain bike.

Calendars of all the regional USAT supported triathlons were handed out. The website is on the calendars and everyone was asked to check the website for updates.

Following the general meeting, a board meeting was held. Larry Seidman, Susan Bowles, Jim Flint, and Mary Sue Dickerson were in attendance.

Larry Seidman agreed to continue as president next year and Susan Bowles agreed to take the vice-president position.

Insturctions on how to sign up for the Rocky Mountain Newsletter will be placed on our website. The newsletter will remain as a Yahoo group. Susan Bowles agreed to help Jim Flint with the next newsletter and will gradually take over responsibility for it with help from all of us.

We decided to take one time a year labels from the USAT National office and send out a letter in April/May to all of our regional members.

The National office is concerned about some of the regions saving the money they get rather than using it to support triathlons. We seem to be in well within their guidelines.

We approved the 2003 goals sent out by Larry.

Timberline will do the regional rankings for us next year and the region will pay for this service.

An agreement was made to clean up the by-laws in 2003.
