Present:
Larry Seidman, Penny & Kevin Bergsten, Jose Valdes(Phone), Dan Fisher(New Mexico Rep)(Phone), Jim Flint(official), Bettina Younge., Chris Bowerbank(Utah)(phone), and Corky Stetson(Wyo)(phone)
Introductions
Looking at having the Boulder Peak Duathlon be the Regional Duathlon Championship. Boulder Peak will be a sanctioned event this year but if numbers go down due to $7.00 one day fee for 2001 will not sanction for 2002.
Budget: Right now have $2,946 in our account for the Rocky Mountain Region.
Race Officials Clinic: 5 levels of an official.
Category 5: have attended race officials clinic(next one to take place day before Las Vegas Tri)
Category 4: have attended clinic and trained the next day officiating a race
Category 3: have done a minimum of 2 triathlons as an official
Category 2: Have been an official for 3 years
Category 1: can be an official at any level of race. Experience with all levels of USAT sanctioned events(Pro, biathlon, duathlon, triathlon, both Lake and Pool swims)
Regional 2000 Rankings: Larry and Jim working on. Taking all USAT members from our region from the National Rankings and figuring it out that way. Will be awards after the Saturn Triathlon at Monument for 2000. A plaque donated by Jim through 1st place only in each age group.
Regional 2001 Rankings: Will be based on races within region only that are sanctioned. Only USAT members are eligible for Regional Rankings within the region.
Regional Newsletter: Chris Bowerbank to try a newsletter in Utah and then get with Bettina after to work on our regional newsletter. Bettina volunteered to do this: Will contact race directors to advertise in newsletter to help fund printing of it.
Regional Incentive for Race Directors to Sanction
Discussed coming up with an incentive within our region to get more races to sanction with USAT. Several suggestions. Need someone to volunteer to head this project.
Next Meeting: Sunday May 27th Day before Boulder Boulder in Boulder at 3:00pm. Pending Location. Jim to look into using the Regal Harvest House.
